Press Release

NEW YORK -- Monday, May 25, 2020 -- Rising actor, recording artist, filmmaker, and entrepreneur Amir Royale re-released his debut mixtape ‘Magnificent’, celebrating its five-year anniversary since its original release on Memorial Day 2015 through SoundCloud and DatPiff.

Click here to listen to the re-released mixtape.

The mixtape features 21 tracks that pay homage to previous eras of hip hop and R&B. Originally mixed by Mike Martial—Royale updated and reproduced the mixtape. Royale also wrote the original songs (i.e. lead single “So Mellow”) and freestyles, some of which cover songs that inspired him, including Mac Miller’s “Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza” and Tinashe’s “2 On” (which features Oscar and Emmy-Winning actor and recording artist Jharrel Jerome).

Royale originally produced Magnificent while he was a sophomore at Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in New York City. The songs were inspired by Royale’s relationship with a high school crush. Ultimately, that relationship helped fuel his desire to succeed in acting, music, and film. The tracks on the mixtape spotlight a variety of pop culture references from his teenage and adolescent years as well.

As he was a student when it was first created, Royale determined years ago to one day remix Magnificent and bring it closer to his original sonic vision. With time, he found that there would be no better moment than the five-year anniversary to attempt doing so. Who knows, maybe there is still more to come.

“I always knew Magnificent wasn’t completed,” Royale said. “It feels good to return back to my roots.”

The re-release of Magnificent follows Royale’s release of the short film Please Stop Calling Me and NEXT STOP Podcast acting appearance in April, a February release of the soulful hip hop record “Hold it Down (Freestyle)”, and the emotionally powerful single “People Say” in January.
